What is CBM?
CBM means cubic meter. It is a standard way to express freight volume. For a rectangular carton, convert dimensions to meters and multiply length × width × height. Multiply that carton volume by the carton quantity, then add the volumes of any other SKUs.
CBM = length (m) × width (m) × height (m) × quantity
How to use this calculator
- Choose metric or imperial units.
- Add one row for each carton size or SKU.
- Enter the outside dimensions, quantity, and optional gross weight per carton.
- Use the totals for freight quotes, pallet planning, and container estimates.
Important assumptions
Use packed outside dimensions, not product dimensions. Real freight volume may include pallet height, stretch wrap, protrusions, dunnage, or carrier-specific rounding rules.
